    BACKGROUND

On May 29th, 2001, the body of a Hispanic woman was discovered on the Tohono O’odham Nation Reservation in the vicinity of Cold Fields Village in Pima County, Arizona. She was discovered 2.8 miles East and 4 miles North of mile post/marker 8 of Federal Route 19.

The woman was discovered under a tree, using her purse as a pillow. It is believed that she passed due to hyperthermia from exposure to the elements and had been deceased for up to 5 weeks prior to her discovery.

The Doe is described as a Hispanic woman between 34 to 62 years of age. She weighed 156 pounds (70.7604 kg) and stood at 4’10” (147.32 cm) in height. She had brown hair which had been dyed with red colouring, was 6 or more inches (15.24 or more cm) in length, and had 2 to 3% gray hairs present.

She was discovered wearing a blue short-sleeved button-up denim shirt, denim pants, dark coloured shorts with a white pattern around the bottom of each leg, black and white tennis shoes/sneakers, and white socks.

The upper dental plate had a gold metallic strip between the central incisors (front teeth), a “…small stainless steel full crown added to the plate” (DoeNetwork) on the right lateral incisor, and a “…a false gold crown with a “natural face”” (DoeNetwork) on the upper left lateral incisor. This gold crown looks like a window. On the lower plate, there was an apparent “…repaired complete fracture of the right side of the denture in the area of the first premolar; the old fracture line split the prosthetic tooth.” (DoeNetwork)

    BACKGROUND

On the night of November 17th, 1999, a woman was driving a maroon-coloured 1985 Mitsubishi Galant on the 101 Freeway near Western Avenue in Los Angeles, California, when she stopped in the southbound number three lane, possibly due to car troubles, though it is unknown why she stopped. The Galant was then hit from behind by another vehicle, which caused the Galant to burst into flames. Authorities and paramedics were called who subsequently pronounced the driver of the Galant dead at the scene.

Authorities discovered that the Galant had been registered about four months prior to a man with the surname “Yoo”. When contacted, the man said he had sold the vehicle a few months prior after it was registered in his name. He claimed to not recall any information about the individual he sold the car to. The buyer apparently did not update the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) with their information, which is likely why it was still registered under Yoo’s name. According to the DoeNetwork, Yoo’s daughter was later located, but claimed to know nothing about the unidentified woman.

The victim’s race could not be determined, but the DoeNetwork and some articles claim she may have possibly been Asian. She was between 18 to 35 years old, weighed approximately 146 pounds, and stood between 5’0” to 5’6” in height. Her hair and eye colour could not be determined.

The woman was found wearing a yellow metal Claddagh ring with a bridge setting. This ring had a clear heart-shaped stone held by hands, and a round, small, clear stone above it.

The woman was also wearing a yellow metal “twisted” chain necklace with a clear Hershey Kiss-shaped pendant on it. Personally, the pendant looks like it’s made of glass; possibly lampwork or hand blown?

One white metal earring was also possibly found, though I only see this noted on NamUs and the DoeNetwork, but not on the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s website or the 2019 news release from the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

As she had a Claddagh ring on, could there be chance she is Irish or was gifted to it by someone who is Irish? I’ve had a Claddagh ring in the past that I thrifted, but the one Jane Doe was found wearing seems more “fancy” with the stones, as a lot of Claddagh rings I see (including the one I owned) do not seem to have stones often.

Claddagh ring’s feature a heart which symbolizes love, a crown which symbolizes loyalty, and two hands clasped which symbolizes friendship. They are given and worn for many different reasons. According to My Irish Jeweler, Claddagh rings are often worn or given in romantic relationships “…either as a promise ring or to mark an engagement, or wedding.” They are also given and worn for platonic relationships “Claddagh rings are regularly given as special momentos to family members or dear friends. They are ideal for celebrating a unique friendship and are a particularly popular gift from parents or grandparents to young people coming of age here in Ireland. Some of our team here at My Irish Jeweler still have small Claddagh rings given to them by their grandparents on their communion.”

Some people wear them just because they like them/the look of them, though! So, it really is difficult to know. I thought I’d add the information about it anyway, just in case.

CLOTHING/ITEMS – On the body, the following was noted

    • Yellow metal Claddagh ring with bridged setting; heart-shaped clear stone held at the sides by hands and crowned with another small, round, clear stone (Size not stated)
    • Yellow metal “twisted” chain necklace with a clear “Hershey Kiss-shaped” pendant
    • One white metal earring

    BACKGROUND

On July 21st, 2020, human remains were discovered in the 2000 block of Ahrens Street, described as a “…grassy area behind some businesses and warehouses”, in Houston, Texas.

The victim is believed to be a Caucasian female between 45 to 70 years old. She stood approximately 5’4” to 5’6” in height and had long, partially white and brown/black hair. Her weight and eye colour could not be determined. It is noted that she “wears glasses”, though no glasses were noted to be found so I am unsure how they came to this conclusion or if some were found but just not noted down.

The woman had a colourful butterfly tattoo on her outer left calf. She was found wearing a dark blue t-shirt with the words “Stronger than Cancer” and the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon, black stretchy pants, yellow hospital-style non-slip socks, underwear, and a bra.

A comment on her Websleuths forum post link to a .pdf file by Harris County regarding this Jane Doe but it is not available now for some reason, or at least I cannot access it. They note that in the file, she is noted to have had “…a history of a left craniotomy (surgery involving the skull), surgery of her neck, and surgery of her wrist.” I have not seen this noted anywhere else but wanted to mention it.

A good write-up of this case was done a year ago on the r/UnresolvedMysteries subreddit by user u/HovercraftCapable820 that I will include in the reference links.

    BACKGROUND

On December 11th, 2023, skeletal remains were found on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land, West of Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Only a skull, mandible, spine, ribs, and clothing were found.

On NamUs, it states “UP136066 and UP127517 were found in the same vicinity and may be related.” There is no further information regarding this, but I will do a write up of #UP136066 soon as well.

Clothing found nearby were a black t-shirt with a graphic of a white clothes hanger which had a heart and the word “LOVE” in red, white, and blue, hanging from the hanger, dark coloured jeans, underwear, a dark coloured bra with lace detail, black tennis shoes/sneakers, and black ankle socks with blue heels and toes. I will note that in the images provided on NamUs, three shoes are shown; two of the ones I believe are the black, possibly size 36 ones noted in the items found, and one of a different kind that is not mentioned otherwise.

    BACKGROUND

On April 28th, 2025, the Battalion Search and Rescue group discovered partial skeletal remains in the desert between Highway 9 and Cross Tie Road in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office were alerted of this discovery “…and provided coordinates to the remains.” (NamUS)

The victim is believed to be a Hispanic, Asian, or Native American female between 17 to 21 years old. She stood between 4’9” to 5’4” in height. Her weight, eye colour, and hair colour could not be determined.

Near her remains, light coloured pants were discovered. These were by the brand “Cuidado con el Perro”, and were “MEX size 5” / “US size 2”.

This woman was most likely migrating across the Mexico-United States border when she passed. Sadly, there is not much information regarding this doe or her case.
